Middle school marks the start of secondary education. Students are encouraged to develop independent thinking, nurture their talents, and remain open to others, while preparing for further studies and their future role in society.
The first year (6e in French) holds a particular place: it helps students adapt to the pace and organization of middle school while continuing their learning. They are required to adopt new personal work methods.
Middle school comprises four levels: 6e (11-12 years old), 5e (12-13 years old), 4e (13-14 years old), 3e (14-15 years old).
The middle school week comprises an average of 32 hours of instruction, spread over 5 days.
Students have 36 weeks of instruction per year.
Classes take place from Monday to Friday, starting at 8:15 am and ending no later than 5:30 pm.
In addition to classrooms, middle school students have access to:
– a library and resource center (CDI – Centre de Documentation et d’Information in French)
– an outdoor sports field,
– a playground,
– a gymnasium,
– a dojo,
– a common room,
– laboratories,
– a fablab,
– specialized rooms for visual arts, music, technology,
and computer science.
At the end of 3e (14-15 years old), the French DNB diploma is an important milestone in your child’s education, as it assesses the knowledge and skills acquired during middle school.
The school ensures close monitoring of learning and provides support tailored to the educational needs of students. At the secondary level, students’ report cards are available on Pronote, an online communication system connecting parents, teachers, and students. These records are regularly updated by teachers. Report cards with teacher assessments are also sent to families at the end of each term, three times a year.
As co-education is one of the school’s key principles, sessions are organized at the beginning of the school year to foster dialogue with parents. Individual sessions with teachers also take place during the year. Additional opportunities for exchange arise throughout the school year, such as festive, sporting, or cultural events organized by the school.
To foster digital literacy, middle school students have had personal tablets since 2017, used responsibly as part of their learning.
The school supports students in developing their academic and career pathways. Within the framework of a future pathway program (Parcours Avenir in French), information and guidance resource staff (PRIO in French) conduct workshops, career exploration sessions, and training presentations. The guidance office offers workshops and conferences throughout the year and is also available to students and their families for individual meetings.
For parents wishing to enroll their child,
immersion sessions can be arranged upon request.
