Founded in 1956, the school now welcomes nearly 1,150 students, from 3 to 18 years old. In September 2025, after 70 years of history, the school opens a new chapter and becomes the Lycée Français International de Zurich.
The school is part of the global network for french education abroad (AEFE: Agence pour l’Enseignement Français à l’Étranger in French), which ensures that the curriculum complies with the programs of the French Ministry of Education. The teaching provided is also accredited by the Zurich Cantonal Education Directorate (Bildungsdirektion), which recognizes the compliance of the French–German curriculum from kindergarten to CM2, as well as the secondary education program.
The educational content is therefore designed in accordance with the cantonal law on German-language instruction.
Excellence is more than achieving results; it is a mindset shared by the entire school community. Our dedicated teachers inspire curiosity, effort, and ambition, providing high-quality learning experiences. We aim to help every student reach their full potential and build a strong, promising future.
Every student is supported to grow in a safe, respectful, and stimulating environment. Our staff foster confidence and personal development while promoting emotional well-being. Children with special needs benefit from tailored programs and a dedicated
well-being team.
Our school combines a strong foundation in the French curriculum with an openness to Swiss languages and culture. Lessons are adapted to the local context, embracing diversity and encouraging students to explore the wider world. School trips and partnerships with cultural and sports organizations strengthen this intercultural experience.
Founded and run by parents, our school is built on active family involvement. This engagement creates a supportive community where dialogue, cooperation, and mutual respect drive success. We offer inclusive education, parent-school exchange opportunities, and personalized support to meet each child’s needs.
The school’s educational program is accredited by the Zurich Cantonal Education Directorate (Bildungsdirektion), which recognizes the compliance of the French–German curriculum from kindergarten to CM2, as well as the secondary education program.
LFiZ is the only school in the canton of Zurich accredited by the French Ministry of National Education. This ensures that the programs taught are fully aligned with those in all French schools, both in France and abroad. It also guarantees that students’ guidance decisions and exam results are officially recognized.
The agency for French education abroad (Agence pour l’Enseignement Français à l’Étranger in French) is a public national organization under the supervision of the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs. Its unique global network of 600 schools in 140 countries ensures educational continuity, even when families move frequently.
Throughout their school journey, our students develop essential skills through four complementary pathways, which go beyond formal learning and support their overall growth.
To foster civic awareness and active citizenship: class representative elections, meetings with associations, charity runs, environmental initiatives, anti-bullying programs, and more.
To build knowledge and habits for maintaining physical and mental health, supported by our qualified school nurse: dental bus, healthy cooking workshops, screen-time education, first-aid workshops, “taste week,” and more.
To stimulate creativity, nurture artistic sensitivity, and embrace cultural diversity, guided by our cultural coordinator: workshops with artists and authors, concerts, performances, theatre, creative workshops, circus initiation, and more.
To help students explore their interests and make informed choices, our two guidance staff (PRIO in French) support self-discovery and understanding of study and work through workshops, forums, internships, and personalized mentoring.
